At the victim transfer point, relatives, including Mrs. Hoang Thi Oanh, gather to identify their loved ones. Mrs. Oanh’s husband, who raised fish in the upstream area, was swept away by the flood. She has been present at the scene every day, moving from search areas to transfer points, anxiously awaiting news.

On September 12 at 9 AM, Mr. Tran Cam Tu, Politburo Member and Chairman of the Central Inspection Commission, visited Nu Village to inspect the ongoing rescue and relief operations.

The search efforts have expanded beyond the immediate flood-affected areas as teams strive to locate the remaining missing victims.

Bao Yen District’s Party Secretary Hoang Quoc Bao confirmed that 42 bodies have been found in the Lang Nu flood. Among the missing are several family members, leaving loved ones in an agonizing wait.

According to Hoang Quoc Bao, Party Secretary of Bao Yen District, the authorities have found 42 bodies from the Lang Nu flood.

Mrs. Nong Thi Hen, desperate to reach her family after hearing about the floods, returned to her home to find it devastated. Sitting by the coffin of a family member, she tearfully shared: “My children and their spouses are in the village. We have buried my son-in-law, but my daughter is still missing.”

Mrs. Ly Thi Hong, a resident of Nu Village, lost five out of seven family members in the flood. Among the dead are her daughter, son-in-law, and grandchildren.

Overcome with despair, she shared: “I can’t believe this reality. My family is gone. We lost communication and didn’t know what had happened until someone came to tell us.”

The tragedy of Mrs. Hong’s family is just one of many devastating stories in Nu Village, where the flood has left a trail of destruction and grief for the community.

The recent flood has caused widespread damage across Lao Cai. Official figures show that six districts and cities have been severely affected, resulting in significant human and material losses. So far, 234 people have been impacted, with 88 confirmed dead, 85 still missing, and 70 injured.

The flooding has also ravaged approximately 2,800 hectares of farmland, destroying crops and affecting the livelihoods of thousands. A total of 7,500 households have been severely impacted, with many homes completely destroyed.

The estimated economic damage from the flood in Lao Cai is around 3,000 billion VND. Authorities are working tirelessly to carry out rescue operations and provide support to residents in the wake of this disaster.
