The recently-concluded visit by Party General Secretary Nguyen Phu Trong to the Republic of Korea marks the opening of a new stage of development with bright prospects in the two countries’ relations, said a Vietnamese official.

Party General Secretary Nguyen Phu Trong and Prime Minister of the Republic of Korea Chung Hong-Won agreed to conclude the negotiations on a bilateral free trade agreement by the end of this year.

Vietnam and the Republic of Korea (RoK) on October 2 issued a Joint Statement during the visit to the RoK by General Secretary of the Communist Party of Vietnam Central Committee Nguyen Phu Trong from October 1-4.
