On the evening of August 7, the Traffic Police Department of Khanh Hoa Province reported that authorities are investigating an incident involving a foreign national assaulting a traffic police officer on duty in Nha Trang.

According to the report, a senior officer from the local traffic patrol unit sustained a mouth injury after being punched by a Russian man during an active traffic resolution operation.

Earlier that morning, a patrol team had been dispatched to the scene of a traffic accident at the intersection of Tran Phu and Tue Tinh Streets in Nha Trang Ward.

While officers were mediating the accident involving a motorcycle driven by a Russian national and another vehicle, the foreign driver demanded to retrieve his motorbike and leave the scene. When his request was denied in accordance with procedure, the man unexpectedly punched a traffic police lieutenant colonel in the mouth, causing facial injuries and bleeding.

The patrol unit and local officers quickly restrained the suspect and escorted him to the police station for questioning.

Nha Trang Ward Police are continuing the investigation and are compiling evidence to handle the case in accordance with the law.
