At the invitation of Vietnam’s Ministry of National Defense, Russia has sent 30 service members to join the military parade marking the 80th anniversary of the August Revolution and National Day.

Vietnam has invited four countries - Russia, China, Laos, and Cambodia - to send troops for the event. According to the Ministry, this reflects Vietnam’s friendship and solidarity with its traditional partners while underscoring its independent, self-reliant, and multilateral foreign policy, positioning itself as a reliable friend and partner of all nations.

Earlier, delegations from Cambodia and Laos arrived on August 15 and 16. Both groups are staying in Phu Tho and training at the Mieu Mon National Training Center.

Upon arrival, the Russian contingent was welcomed by officials from the Ministry of National Defense and related agencies, who facilitated immigration procedures. The group then moved to their accommodation site, ready to begin preparations.

During the 50th anniversary of national reunification in April 2025, service members from China, Laos, and Cambodia also participated in Vietnam’s military parade.

Rehearsals for this year’s celebrations will begin at 8 p.m. on August 21 and 24 at Ba Dinh Square and central streets along the parade route. Two additional dress rehearsals will follow before the official parade on the morning of September 2.
