The National Election Council has announced the official list of 864 candidates standing for election to the 16th National Assembly across 182 constituencies nationwide. A total of 500 deputies will be elected.

Notably, among the 864 candidates are seven young women born in the 2000s, contesting seats in various provinces and centrally governed cities.

Ngo Kieu Anh, born in 2000, is a staff member of the Human Resources Committee at Agribank and hails from Ninh Binh province. She is running in Constituency No. 5 of Hanoi, which comprises the wards of Tay Tuu, Phu Dien, Xuan Dinh, Dong Ngac, Thuong Cat and the communes of Hoai Duc, Duong Hoa, Son Dong, An Khanh, Dan Phuong, O Dien and Lien Minh.

Ho Thi Thuy Trang, born in 2002, serves as a member of the Executive Committee of the Farmers’ Association in A Luoi 3 commune and head of the Phu Thuong village Farmers’ Association chapter in A Luoi 3, Hue City. She is from Hue City and belongs to the Ta Oi ethnic group. Trang is contesting in Constituency No. 1 of Hue City, which includes the wards of Phong Dien, Phong Phu, Phong Dinh, Phong Thai, Phong Quang, Huong Tra, Kim Tra and the communes of Quang Dien, Dan Dien, Binh Dien, A Luoi 1, 2, 3 and 5.

Ly Mi Le, born in 2001 and a member of the Si La ethnic group, is currently a teacher at Huoi Lech Kindergarten in Muong Toong commune, Dien Bien province. She is running in Constituency No. 2 of Dien Bien province, which includes Muong Lay ward and the communes of Sin Thau, Muong Nhe, Muong Toong, Nam Ke, Quang Lam, Muong Cha, Na Hy, Na Bung, Si Pa Phin, Cha To, Muong Tung, Pa Ham, Na Sang, Nam Nen and Muong Pon.

Lo Thi Bao Vy, born in 2002 and of the O Du ethnic group, is a teacher at Quynh Lap A Primary School in Tan Mai ward, Nghe An province. She is contesting in Constituency No. 1 of Nghe An province, comprising the communes of Muong Tip, My Ly, Muong Xen, Nam Can, Huu Kiem, Muong Long, Keng Du, Na Loi, Na Ngoi, Chieu Luu, Huoi Tu, Bac Ly, Nhon Mai, Yen Na, Nga My, Tuong Duong, Tam Thai, Tam Quang, Luong Minh, Yen Hoa, Huu Khuong, Con Cuong, Chau Khe, Mau Thach, Mon Son, Binh Chuan, Cam Phuc, Yen Xuan, Vinh Tuong, Anh Son Dong, Anh Son, Nhan Hoa and Thanh Binh Tho.

Ha Thi Ly, born in 2002 and of the Thai ethnic group, is currently an official at Lac Hong Theatre under the Department of Culture, Sports and Tourism of Phu Tho province. Originally from Thanh Hoa province, she is running in Constituency No. 3 of Phu Tho province, which includes the communes of Tam Son, Song Lo, Hai Luu, Yen Lang, Lap Thach, Tien Lu, Thai Hoa, Lien Hoa, Hop Ly, Son Dong, Vinh Tuong, Tho Tang, Vinh Hung, Vinh An, Vinh Phu, Vinh Thanh, Dai Dinh, Dao Tru, Tam Duong Bac and Hoang An.

Bui Ha Hai Yen, born in 2001 and also of the Thai ethnic group, is a specialist at the Division for Reviewing Legal Normative Documents under the Department of Justice of Phu Tho province. Originally from Ninh Binh province, she is standing in Constituency No. 4 of Phu Tho province, covering the wards of Xuan Hoa, Phuc Yen, Vinh Phuc, Vinh Yen and the communes of Binh Nguyen, Xuan Lang, Binh Xuyen, Binh Tuyen, Yen Lac, Te Lo, Lien Chau, Tam Hong, Nguyet Duc, Tam Dao, Tam Duong and Hoi Thinh.

Dang Thi Minh, born in 2000 and of the Dao ethnic group, is an officer at the Party Committee Office of Luong Minh commune in Quang Ninh province. She is contesting in Constituency No. 1 of Quang Ninh province, which includes the wards of An Sinh, Dong Trieu, Mao Khe, Binh Khe, Hoang Que, Yen Tu, Vang Danh, Uong Bi, Hiep Hoa, Quang Yen, Lien Hoa, Phong Coc, Ha An and Dong Mai.

According to the National Election Council, among the 864 candidates, 392 are women, accounting for 45.37 percent. There are 188 candidates from ethnic minority groups, representing 21.76 percent; 65 non-Party candidates, or 7.52 percent; and 612 first-time candidates, equivalent to 70.83 percent.

In terms of age structure, 187 candidates, or 21.64 percent, are under 40 years old.
