The latest rankings, released after the conclusion of the World Cup, reflect the significant impact of the tournament, with teams that progressed deep into the competition enjoying substantial gains in both ranking points and positions.

Spain climbed to the summit with 1,995.88 points after defeating Argentina in the World Cup final.

La Roja earned the largest points increase in this ranking update, collecting 121.17 points to overtake Argentina, which slipped to second despite reaching the final.

France remained third, while England rose to fourth after reaching the semifinals and winning the third-place playoff.

Brazil occupies fifth place, while Morocco has climbed to sixth - its highest position ever in the FIFA rankings.

Portugal, led by Cristiano Ronaldo, dropped to seventh, with Belgium, the Netherlands, and Mexico completing the top 10.

Norway, inspired by Erling Haaland, recorded the biggest rise of any nation, climbing 12 places after its best-ever World Cup campaign.

Vietnam holds steady

Within Southeast Asia, Vietnam remains the region's second-highest ranked team.

The national side sits 99th with 1,227.20 points after a 4-0 victory over Myanmar, which added 1.52 ranking points and enabled the team to maintain its place inside the world's top 100.

The result is particularly encouraging given that many national teams across Asia and Africa also gained significant ranking points during the latest international window.

However, Vietnam still trails regional rival Thailand, which occupies 94th place with 1,250.80 points - a lead of 23.60 points.

The gap highlights the importance of maintaining a winning run at the upcoming ASEAN Cup 2026 and in future international friendlies if head coach Kim Sang Sik and his players hope to continue climbing the global rankings.

Remaining inside the top 100 also provides the Golden Star Warriors with a stronger position for seeding in future international competitions.

Vietnam's next objective will be to narrow the gap to Thailand, move closer to the world's top 90 and further strengthen its standing as one of Southeast Asia's leading football nations.
