VietNamNet Bridge - The father of the schoolboy whose was leg broken said that he asked for help from the Ministry of Education and Training and the Hanoi Education and Training, but there has been no reply.

Tran Duy Kien, a second grader at Nam Trung Yen Primary School in Hanoi, was hit by a car in December 2016 when he was playing at the school. He was brought to a hospital by a security guard and had to undergo surgery.

The school’s headmaster and teachers did not give appropriate help to the student.

Tran Chi Dung, the father of the student, said he was informed by the school that the boy felt on the ground and hit his leg when running in school. 

However, when the boy regained consciousness after he surgery, he said he was hit by a car.

Dung then went to meet the school’s board of management to clarify the reasons of the accident and asked the board of management not to let cars operate within the school.

Ta Thi Bich Ngoc, the headmaster then denied the fact that the schoolboy was hit by a car in school, saying that no one in school had turquoise car. She said 100 percent of students, who were asked to answer the questionnaire, said they did not see any car enter the school or cause an accident.

Only later, at meetings among the school’s representatives, family’s members and relevant agencies, Ngoc recalled that on that day, she went to see a doctor and when coming back to school by taxi, she let the car enter the school. She surmised that the car, when leaving, caused the accident.

According to Dung, his son still cannot get around after the surgery. He will need to have his leg examined once more in late February, and has been out of achool since December.

On February 7, Dung told the press that his family asked the Ministry of Education and Training and the Hanoi education department for help, but he has not received a reply.

Meanwhile, at a meeting with Hanoi authorities on February 6, the leaders of the Hanoi education department said the student’s parents were not satisfied about the school headmaster’s attitude.

Hanoi Mayor Nguyen Duc Chung at the municipal authorities’ working session on February 6 requested the Hanoi education department to suspend Ngoc while clarifying the case.

“Deputy PM Vu Duc Dam reminded me three times about the case,” he said.
