On October 26, the Politburo officially appointed Thai Thanh Quy, a Central Party Member and Secretary of the Nghe An Provincial Party Committee, as Deputy Head of the Central Economic Commission.
The announcement took place at the Commission’s headquarters, presided over by Le Minh Hung, Politburo Member and Head of the Party Central Committee's Organization Commission.
Le Minh Hung highlighted Quy’s background, noting his extensive contributions to Nghe An Province through various leadership roles. Quy’s work has significantly supported the province's achievements over the years.
Appointing Quy to the Central Economic Commission, Hung emphasized, reflects the Politburo's confidence in his leadership and expertise. He encouraged Quy to swiftly familiarize himself with his new responsibilities, leverage his capabilities and experience, and work closely with Commission leaders to effectively advise the Party Central Committee, Politburo, and Secretariat on economic and social policy.
Tran Luu Quang, Head of the Commission, affirmed that Quy’s addition would strengthen the Commission’s leadership team. Quang encouraged Quy to engage promptly with his new role and collaborate effectively to fulfill the Commission's mandate.
Accepting the role, Quy expressed gratitude to the Politburo for its trust, stating that this appointment is both an honor and a significant responsibility. Quy pledged to dedicate himself fully, quickly integrate into his new role, and continue to learn, train, and enhance his expertise, working closely with the Commission to meet their objectives.
Quy also voiced his hope for support from the Politburo, the Secretariat, and effective collaboration with central and local agencies to accomplish the Commission’s goals.

From October 2018 to October 25, 2024, Quy served as Chairman of the People's Committee, Secretary of the Nghe An Provincial Party Committee, Chairman of the Provincial People’s Council, and Head of Nghe An’s Delegation in the 15th National Assembly.
