Tran Viet Hung, Head of the Market Surveillance Operations Division at the Agency for Domestic Market Surveillance and Development under the Ministry of Industry and Trade, said the inspection plan was issued on July 15 at the request of the Anti-Money Laundering Department under the State Bank of Vietnam.

Under the Anti-Money Laundering Department's request, market surveillance authorities are required to inspect at least three businesses trading in precious metals and gemstones.

On that basis, the Agency for Domestic Market Surveillance and Development plans to inspect five businesses in Hanoi.

Hung said these are targeted inspections and not surprise inspections of businesses suspected of violations.

Under Circular 27 on inspection activities and the handling of administrative violations, the decision approving the targeted inspection plan will be sent to the businesses being inspected so they can prepare documents and records in advance and provide them to the inspection team when it arrives.

The inspections will focus on compliance with regulations governing invoices, supporting documents, the origin of goods, product labeling and other regulations within the jurisdiction of market surveillance authorities.

For gold jewelry set with gemstones, inspectors will examine the product as a whole to assess it and take action within their assigned authority.

Under the plan, the inspections will be conducted and completed in August 2026.

After completing the inspections, the agency will compile and report the results, assess the businesses' compliance with the law, and recommend action if violations or shortcomings in the regulatory framework are identified.
