Forecasts indicate that the storm will enter the East Sea by the evening of October 3, becoming Storm No. 11 and potentially affecting Vietnam’s mainland.

According to the National Center for Hydro-Meteorological Forecasting, as of 7 a.m., the center of Storm Matmo was located over the eastern waters of the Philippines. The strongest winds near the storm’s center were at level 8 (62–74 km/h), with gusts reaching level 10.

The storm is moving in a west-northwest direction at a speed of 15–20 km/h.

Forecast for the next 24 to 48 hours:

From 48 to 72 hours later, the storm is expected to continue moving west-northwest at a pace of 15–20 km/h.

Due to the storm’s influence, beginning the afternoon of October 3, the eastern waters of the northern East Sea will experience gradually increasing wind speeds, starting at levels 6–7, then rising to level 8. Areas near the storm’s center may see winds at levels 9–10, with gusts reaching level 12. Wave heights are projected to reach 4–6 meters, and the sea will be extremely rough.

Between October 4 and 5, the northern East Sea region (including the Hoang Sa archipelago) is likely to be impacted by sustained winds at levels 11–12, with gusts up to level 15.

Vessels operating in these dangerous zones could be affected by thunderstorms, whirlwinds, strong winds, and high waves.
