On the afternoon of December 3, local authorities responded swiftly to the scene on Nguyen Cong Tru Street (An Hai Ward), where a gaping sinkhole had formed next to the barrier of an active construction site.
Initial reports indicate that the incident occurred around 2:00 p.m., near the intersection with Ngo Quyen Street.
The sinkhole measures approximately two meters deep and spans nearly half the width of the street.
Two parked cars closest to the curb fell entirely into the hole, sustaining damage.
A third car became stuck with its rear wheels hanging into the sinkhole, balancing dangerously over the edge.
Da Nang emergency services quickly dispatched an excavator and cordoned off the affected section to ensure public safety and begin recovery efforts.
Hoang Cong Thanh, Chairman of the An Hai Ward People’s Committee, confirmed the incident and said no injuries were reported.
“The sinkhole spans roughly 20 to 30 meters. For now, we’ve deployed local security forces to guard the site and are working with relevant units to investigate the cause,” Thanh stated.
A representative of Da Nang City’s Department of Construction also confirmed that they had received information about the incident and were conducting an official inspection and assessment.
