With outstanding academic achievements and clear study goals, Ho Huu Dai and La Tuan Hung successfully gained admission to Aalto University, one of Europe’s leading institutions in technology, with full tuition coverage for three years and an additional two years at the master’s level if they continue.
Aalto University is known for its strengths in technology, artificial intelligence and data analytics, and is home to many leading research projects and innovation ecosystems in Northern Europe.
Ho Huu Dai was admitted to the Data Science programme. His application stood out with a perfect SAT score of 1600/1600 and an IELTS score of 8.0.
Sharing with VietNamNet, Dai said: “This was one of my key goals for this academic year, so I felt very happy and fulfilled when I received the admission result.”
Meanwhile, La Tuan Hung was admitted to the Computer Engineering programme with an SAT score of 1590. He also received a full tuition scholarship for the three-year programme.
Hung said he chose Aalto University partly because full scholarships are rare in Europe, and in Finland, this university is the only one offering such support. “When I received the admission and full scholarship offer, I was overwhelmed with joy - it felt like an explosion of emotions,” he said.

Speaking about his study approach, Dai said he always focuses during lessons and tries to absorb knowledge in class. Before exams, he practises extensively with past papers. “That helps me strengthen my knowledge and build confidence to achieve good results,” he said.
Hung also emphasised the importance of practice tests, which help him identify weaknesses and improve gaps in knowledge. He highlighted self-study as a key factor for breakthroughs. “Another important factor is sleep. Getting enough rest helps me stay alert and focused. I always try to go to bed early,” he added.

Commenting on his students, Hong said Dai is particularly strong in advanced mathematics, especially combinatorics, and is among the top students in the class. He described Dai as mature and reserved.
Hung, meanwhile, is gentle in personality and performs consistently across different areas of mathematics.
“In class, both are sociable and actively participate in various activities. Beyond academics, they both enjoy sports,” Hong said.
Hong added that their achievements also reflect the class’s strong academic spirit and mutual support. “The learning environment at the high school, and especially in Class 12 Math 2, is friendly and united. Studying in a comfortable environment without excessive pressure allows students to fully develop their abilities. There are many excellent students in the class, but perhaps Dai and Hung had a special connection with this university,” he said.
Outside of studying, Dai enjoys playing football and reading, while Hung is passionate about basketball.
Both students said they will continue focusing on completing their high school programme before preparing for their study abroad journey in August. Having studied in the same class and been admitted to the same university, they are considering living together during their time in Finland.
