Early this morning (October 1), Typhoon Krathon entered the northeastern waters of the northern East Sea, becoming the fifth typhoon of 2024.
According to the National Center for Hydro-Meteorological Forecasting, as of 4:00am today, the center of Typhoon Krathon was located in the northeastern waters of the northern East Sea.
The strongest winds near the storm’s center reached Level 16 (184-201 km/h), with gusts exceeding Level 17. The storm is moving west-northwest at a speed of about 5 km/h.
Current forecasts suggest that the typhoon is not expected to impact coastal areas or mainland Vietnam.
Typhoon Forecast (24 to 72 hours):
Due to the influence of Typhoon No. 5, the northeastern waters of the northern East Sea (north of latitude 18.0N and east of longitude 116.5E) will experience strong winds of Level 10-13, with areas near the storm center seeing Level 14-16, and gusts above Level 17. Waves are expected to reach 7-9 meters, and the seas will be extremely rough.
Vessels operating in the affected areas may face thunderstorms, strong winds, and large waves, posing significant risks to those at sea.
