On the afternoon of October 27, Hua Van Hung, Chairman of Ai Nghia Town People's Committee (Dai Loc District, Quang Nam), confirmed a recent accident as locals prepared for Typhoon Trami (Typhoon No. 6).

Hung reported that the victim, Nguyen Duc Q. (born in 1968, residing in Nghia Phuoc neighborhood, Ai Nghia Town), fell from a ladder while securing his roof against the storm with family members. He tragically died on the spot.

In addition, three other residents in Quang Nam, from Tam Ky, Thang Binh, and Duy Xuyen, sustained severe injuries while reinforcing their homes. Two of them suffered broken legs, while one incurred a traumatic brain injury.

The storm’s strong winds and heavy rain damaged 13 homes, caused landslides in mountainous areas, and led to 35 electrical incidents, leaving 819 substations and over 84,400 customers without power.

Quang Nam’s meteorological department forecasts heavy rain across the province until October 29, with high risks of flash floods, waterlogging, and landslides.

Also, on the afternoon of October 27, officials in Huong Phong Commune (Hue City, Thua Thien Hue) reported that around 1 p.m., a man riding his motorbike along National Route 49 from Quang Cong to Quang Ngan (Quang Dien District) encountered a deeply flooded section of road. He unfortunately fell and was swept away.

Upon receiving the report, local authorities mobilized teams to search for him. By 3:30 p.m., the man’s body was found, and officials are preparing to return it to his family.

In a separate incident, officials in Loc Vinh Commune (Phu Loc District), along with Border Guard forces, local authorities, and family members, found the body of Le Phuoc Th. (born in 1980, from Binh An Village, Loc Vinh Commune) in a nearby lagoon.

Earlier that day, at around 11 a.m., Th. went to the lagoon in front of his home to cast fishing nets as Typhoon Trami approached the mainland. When family members called him to lunch, they couldn’t find him, prompting them to alert authorities.

The Provincial Steering Committee for Disaster Prevention and Control in Thua Thien Hue Province reported that the storm caused severe damage to 214 houses across the province, including 210 in Phu Loc District. Numerous public buildings, including offices and schools, also sustained roof damage and structural harm.
