John Savage, An Wang Professor of Computer Science from the US Brown University, has affirmed that he will make effort to support Vietnam to develop science and technology.

At a meeting with President Tran Dai Quang in Hanoi on October 27, the Professor said that support includes the building of a safe, reliable, friendly and highly interactive cyber space in Vietnam.

He shared with the President about advantages and challenges in cyber security issues, saying international cooperation and experience sharing are needed to mitigate risks in the field.
President Quang welcomed the Professor’s visit to Vietnam, expecting it to promote comprehensive partnership between the two countries.

He said the Vietnamese Party and State pay special heed to science and technology investment, regarding this as one of the top priorities to build and develop the country.

He underlined the increasingly important role of cyber security in international integration and affirmed Vietnam is ready to share experience with other countries to create a safe and healthy internet environment.

The President called on the US Professor to play as a bridge connecting Vietnamese scientists with international ones in all fields, particularly in innovation development, science–technology, and education, as well as help Vietnam build high-quality human resources in science-technology and computer science.-VNA
