The deployment of vaccine passport will not be simple and must be carefully done step by step, said Deputy Minister of Health Truong Quoc Cuong at a cabinet press conference on March 31.

The Ministry of Health is cooperating with the Ministry of Information and Communications to develop a “vaccine passport,” said Deputy Minister of Health Do Xuan Tuyen at the launching ceremony for the Vietnam Digital Awards 2021 on March 30.

Prime Minister Nguyen Xuan Phuc ordered the health, tourism and diplomacy sectors to soon study and issue a "vaccine passport" mechanism in order to promote trade and investment while addressing the Government’s regular meeting on March 31.

Continuing his talk with VietNamNet, Dr. Nguyen Duc Kien, Head of Economic Advisory Group to the Prime Minister, said that the "new normal" is to open for businesses and workforce as the people have been in harsh conditions.

Vietnam will pilot receiving foreign tourists from some countries from July.

Vietnam needs to design a roadmap for opening the market to receive foreign travelers or it will fail to develop tourism as other countries have taken one step forward.

People entering Vietnam holding a “vaccine passport” must still undergo a two-week period of quarantine and test negative to COVID-19 twice.

Large-scale Covid-19 vaccinations are expected to help restore travelers’ confidence, loosen travel restrictions and normalize tourism activities.
