On the afternoon of July 23, after train SE7 departed Dong Hoi Station, attendant Tran Duc Thuyet, who was responsible for carriage No. 1, found a bag left behind by a foreign passenger while cleaning the carriage.

After receiving the report, train manager Nguyen Cuong and the train crew quickly arrived and drew up an inventory of the property in accordance with procedures, witnessed by passengers.

When they checked the bag, the crew found VND7 million in cash, AUD3,050, USD71 and several other foreign currencies, with a total converted value of about VND65 million.

The bag also contained a mobile phone and a passport bearing the name of the foreign passenger.

After completing the inventory, the train crew contacted the person who had purchased the ticket on the passenger's behalf.

At the owner's request, all the money and other belongings were handed over at Hue Station to be sent back to Dong Hoi Station.

Railway staff then continued completing the necessary procedures so the passenger could recover all the property.

This was not the first time railway employees had promptly found, safeguarded and returned valuable belongings left behind by passengers.

Earlier, on July 22, after train SE2 completed its journey at Hanoi Station, the crew led by train manager Le Xuan Quyet discovered that a passenger had left behind more than VND122 million along with several important documents.

All the property was subsequently processed for return to its owner.

On the same day, the crew of train SE1, led by train manager Nguyen Cong Thien, also returned two bags containing a total of VND14 million to passengers who had left them behind after getting off at Dong Ha Station.

Such actions have helped reinforce a positive image of the railway workforce's sense of responsibility, honesty and dedication in serving passengers.
