On the evening of September 4, President Luong Cuong and a high-level Vietnamese delegation departed Beijing, concluding a successful working visit to China and participation in the ceremony commemorating the 80th anniversary of the global victory over fascism. The trip was made at the invitation of Xi Jinping, General Secretary of the Communist Party of China and President of the People's Republic of China.

At the conclusion of the trip, Nguyen Minh Vu, Standing Deputy Minister of Foreign Affairs, shared insights in an interview about the key outcomes of President Luong Cuong’s visit.

According to Deputy Minister Vu, the Chinese Party and State extended a warm and respectful reception to President Luong Cuong and the Vietnamese delegation. The visit yielded two major outcomes.

First, the commemoration of the 80th anniversary of the global victory over fascism was an important occasion to honor international unity for peace and justice. It marked the end of unjust wars and created favorable conditions for national liberation movements, including Vietnam’s, opening a new era of peace and development.

President Luong Cuong’s presence affirmed Vietnam's longstanding commitment to peace, justice, and international cooperation. It also underscored the consistent stance of the Vietnamese Party and State on contributing responsibly to regional and global peace and stability to prevent past tragedies from recurring.

During the event, President Luong Cuong met with longstanding friends and key international partners of Vietnam. He proposed ideas for cooperation and expressed gratitude for international support during Vietnam’s struggles. The visit also took place as Vietnam celebrated the 80th anniversaries of both the August Revolution and National Day on September 2.

Elevating the bilateral relationship

The second key outcome was a strategic enhancement of the Vietnam-China Comprehensive Strategic Cooperative Partnership. During his working trip, President Luong Cuong held highly successful talks with General Secretary and President Xi Jinping and met with Zhao Leji, Chairman of the Standing Committee of the National People’s Congress of China.

The leaders of both Parties and countries engaged in sincere, productive discussions, outlining several key directions to actualize high-level consensus. These include enhancing political trust, advancing practical cooperation, strengthening multilateral coordination, managing differences constructively, and promoting cultural exchange to ensure healthy, stable, and sustainable bilateral relations.

President Luong Cuong also met with families of Chinese and Vietnamese revolutionaries and advisors who had made significant contributions to Vietnam’s past struggles, including General Nguyen Son, General Wei Guoqing, General Chen Geng, and academician Nguyen Khanh Toan. He honored the deep traditional friendship and called on the descendants of these historical figures to pass on the spirit of solidarity to future generations.

Three foundational pillars for future cooperation

Looking ahead, Deputy Minister Vu highlighted that both sides agreed to implement the outcomes of the visit based on three strengthened foundations: political, material, and social.

On the political front, the two countries will continue to enhance strategic alignment and consolidate political trust. They aim to maintain regular high-level exchanges and foster comprehensive cooperation through all channels - Party, State, Government, Parliament, and mass organizations - from central to local levels. Key sectors such as diplomacy, national defense, and public security will see closer coordination. The countries will also resolve differences calmly and jointly preserve peace and stability, fostering development in both nations and the region. In the face of complex global and regional dynamics, both sides affirmed their commitment to multilateralism and cooperation for common interests.

On the material front, efforts will focus on deepening economic ties. This includes expanding trade in agricultural products, railway connectivity, and joint development of major infrastructure projects. Cooperation in science and technology, innovation, high-quality human resources training, high-tech agriculture, and environmental protection will also be emphasized.

Chinese leaders confirmed readiness to import more Vietnamese goods and encourage high-quality investment. Both sides recognized the need to create more opportunities for businesses and citizens to collaborate, strengthening the "material foundation" of the bilateral relationship.

On the social front, demand for exchanges, travel, education, and trade remains high between the two peoples. Authorities will facilitate this by opening more direct flights, easing visa procedures, and promoting cultural, educational, and tourism exchanges. Both sides will continue to organize meaningful activities during the Vietnam-China Year of People-to-People Exchange, including youth study tours such as the "Red Journey," focusing on revolutionary landmarks, especially those associated with President Ho Chi Minh, preserved in China.

Such activities will deepen mutual understanding and public support, ensuring the Vietnam-China friendship progresses steadily and meaningfully.

In the coming period, ministries, agencies, and localities of both nations will actively implement the high-level agreements and turn them into practical results and joint projects, benefiting the people of both countries and contributing positively to peace, cooperation, and development in the region and the world.
