The leaders reviewed the positive developments in the Vietnam-China relationship and agreed to continue deepening their Comprehensive Strategic Cooperative Partnership. They discussed the need to strengthen political trust, maintain high-level exchanges, improve substantive cooperation, and enhance people-to-people exchanges, especially among the younger generation.
Prime Minister Pham Minh Chinh proposed cooperation on large, symbolic projects with practical and sustainable benefits. He suggested accelerating transport infrastructure connections, particularly railways and roads, within the framework of connecting "Two corridors, one belt" with China's "Belt and Road" initiative. The Prime Minister also welcomed increased high-quality Chinese investment in Vietnam.
Emphasizing the importance of agricultural trade, Prime Minister Pham Minh Chinh requested China to facilitate the export of key Vietnamese products like frozen durian, fresh coconut, and rice. He suggested promoting local cooperation as a new growth driver and studying the establishment of pilot economic cooperation zones across the border.
Xi Jinping highly appreciated these cooperation proposals and affirmed China's support for Vietnam's industrialization and modernization. He highlighted the potential for further strengthening trade, investment, and tourism cooperation between the two countries. He also expressed China's readiness to expand imports of high-quality goods from Vietnam and explore the establishment of cross-border economic zones.
The two leaders discussed international and regional issues of mutual concern and agreed to properly handle disagreements to maintain peace and stability at sea.
Prime Minister Pham Minh Chinh emphasized the importance of respecting each other's legitimate interests in accordance with international law, including the 1982 United Nations Convention on the Law of the Sea (UNCLOS), and ensuring that maritime disputes do not affect the friendly relations between the two countries.
