This afternoon, the Ministry of National Defense held a ceremony to announce the official establishment of the Artillery - Missile Command.

Speaking at the event, General Nguyen Tan Cuong, Chief of the General Staff of the Vietnam People's Army and Deputy Minister of National Defense, emphasized that the formation of the Artillery - Missile Command marks a highly significant development.

He noted that this reflects a new strategic vision by the Politburo and the Central Military Commission in restructuring the armed forces to better meet the demands of national defense and security in the current era.

The newly formed command inherits the proud and heroic tradition of the Artillery Corps of the Vietnam People's Army, a combat branch forged through decades of struggle and victory. Its legacy includes the eight golden words of praise bestowed by President Ho Chi Minh: “Bronze feet, iron shoulders, excellent in fighting, accurate in shooting.”

In this new era, with mounting strategic demands, the Artillery - Missile Command has been structured to be leaner, stronger, and more modern. Its scale, organizational structure, and functions have been expanded, along with the acquisition of modern weaponry and broader strategic deployment.

General Nguyen Tan Cuong called upon the command to thoroughly implement resolutions and directives concerning military and defense tasks. He stressed the importance of raising awareness and responsibility among officers and soldiers for safeguarding the nation in this new context.

He urged party committees, unit commanders, and personnel at all levels to deeply understand the function, mission, and significance of the new command’s formation. From this foundation, they must demonstrate determination and take bold steps to overcome challenges and accomplish political missions successfully.

The general also emphasized the importance of strategic advisory work in deploying artillery and missile forces across the armed services, especially for newly established units. These efforts should aim to build exemplary, comprehensive, and model units.

The Artillery - Missile Command was instructed to quickly stabilize its organizational structure, clearly assign responsibilities within the Party Committee and Command, and consolidate leadership and mass organizations in the new units. All organizational activities must align with designated functions and missions to build strong units capable of fulfilling any assigned task.

Finally, General Cuong underscored the importance of well-executed personnel, ideological, and policy work to ensure readiness and strict adherence to assignment and transfer directives across the new command’s structure.
