On August 15, the Ministry of Culture, Sports and Tourism launched the contest “Identity” to encourage the public to explore, preserve, and promote Vietnam’s cultural identity while showcasing the nation’s image to the world.
The event celebrates two major milestones: the 80th anniversary of Vietnam’s National Day (September 2, 1945 - September 2, 2025) and the 80th anniversary of the Ministry of Culture’s founding (August 28, 1945 - August 28, 2025). The contest aims to create a creative and modern playground where the community can express love for the homeland through formats suited to the digital age.
Speaking at the launch ceremony, Deputy Chief of Office Nguyen Huu Ngoc said: “The Ministry hopes the contest ‘Identity’ will become a meaningful media highlight, inspiring national pride, love for Vietnamese culture, and community connection on modern, fair, and creative digital platforms.”
The contest features two main categories:
Vodcast: Dialogue of identity – Contestants will produce short videos sharing personal stories, experiences, and unique perspectives on Vietnamese culture. This category is expected to create a multidimensional forum bridging traditional and contemporary culture.
Awards include 20 million VND (about 800 USD) for the dialogue pair with the highest votes, and three individual prizes of 10 million VND each for the most-voted vodcast, the individual with the highest total votes across all vodcasts, and the contestant with the most vodcasts reaching the voting stage. For officials and employees in the Ministry, there will be prizes of 10 million VND for the best and most-voted work, and 5 million VND for the contestant with the most entries reaching the voting stage.
Quiz: Understanding identity – This online test will assess knowledge of Vietnamese history, culture, arts, tourism, people, and achievements of the cultural sector over the past 80 years. Prizes include 10 million VND (400 USD) for first place, 5 million VND for second, and 3 million VND for third, along with additional consolation prizes.
The submission period for vodcasts runs from August 15 to August 25, 2025. Voting and quizzes will be held online from August 28 to September 6, 2025, via the contest’s website and the online edition of the Culture newspaper.
The contest is open to all Vietnamese citizens as well as foreigners living, studying, or working in Vietnam, without restrictions on age, gender, or profession.
