The figures were revealed in the Vietnam Game Industry Report 2025, titled “Vietnamese games on the rise: From domestic market to global position”, conducted by GameGeek - Gaming Central Hub with support from the Authority of Broadcasting and Electronic Information under the Ministry of Culture, Sports and Tourism, and in collaboration with leading data partners such as Sensor Tower and AppsFlyer.

According to the report, Vietnamese mobile games are being downloaded at a remarkable pace of 9,300 times per minute, reflecting their strong global appeal and capacity to reach massive user bases worldwide.

Notably, the domestic market accounts for only 5.5% of total downloads, meaning nearly 95% of the industry’s creative output is consumed internationally. This positions mobile games as one of Vietnam’s most successful digital export products.

With deep penetration into major markets, each game not only generates economic value but also showcases the intellectual strength of Vietnamese developers on billions of mobile devices around the world.

India leads as the largest market, accounting for 13.93% of total downloads, followed by populous countries such as Brazil (7.32%) and Indonesia (6.76%).

Despite technical barriers and stricter policies from global platforms, Vietnam’s gaming ecosystem - comprising around 210 active studios, with the actual number likely higher - released 27,388 new games in 2025, up 13% compared to 2024.

Ranking 33rd globally in production volume, Vietnam is steadily establishing itself as a major hub for mobile game development, with strong potential to become a leading export-driven market in the future.

Data from Sensor Tower also shows that Vietnam ranks sixth worldwide in publisher growth rate at 27%. This places the country among the fastest-growing gaming markets globally, demonstrating resilience even as the global industry trends toward contraction.

Currently, Vietnam accounts for 2.3% of global publishers, standing alongside major markets such as the US (3.6%), India (2.9%) and the UK (2.7%).

Vietnamese publishers are also proving highly adaptable to audiences in developing markets (Tier 3 and Tier 4), where smartphone adoption is rapidly increasing and demand is strong for lightweight genres such as puzzle and arcade games. This trend helps explain the dominance of Android, which accounts for 84% of total downloads.
