On the afternoon of Sept. 7, Vietnam Television (VTV) introduced VTVgo The Next, a new generation of the platform that marks VTVgo’s evolution from a digital television service toward a comprehensive digital services platform designed to become more closely integrated into the lives of Vietnamese families.

VTVgo The Next builds on Vietnam Television’s existing digital content distribution platform while expanding the experience to make it faster, more convenient and more personalized, connecting content, entertainment and digital services in one seamless journey.

At the launch, Nguyen Thanh Lam, general director of Vietnam Television, said the widespread adoption of smartphones and smart TVs has made apps extremely easy to use, while the boundaries between different age groups using them are gradually disappearing.

With the 2025 Press Law having taken effect on July 1, 2026, digital platforms operated by media organizations are now legally permitted to provide financial and insurance services, connect users with public services and offer e-commerce. The institutional framework is no longer the bottleneck, he said; the question is whether the industry has grown sufficiently to seize the opportunity. At its current pace of development, VTVgo is now taking the next step toward becoming a multi-service platform.

According to Vietnam Television’s leadership, VTV is determined to accelerate its digital transformation, placing digital platforms at the top of its priorities to reach and better serve audiences and customers. VTVgo must become a modern digital content ecosystem and serve as an almost singular gateway for users in Vietnam and internationally to access authoritative information as well as Vietnam’s cultural and intellectual values.

“VTVgo must become a platform capable of creating new business models for television. The potential is already there. Turning it into reality will not be easy, but we have to work toward that goal. Otherwise, it will remain merely potential and fall short of expectations,” Lam said.

VTVgo The Next is built around three pillars: advanced technology, a deep understanding of audiences and a diverse vision for services.

On the technology front, VTVgo The Next uses Big Data and artificial intelligence to analyze user behavior and viewing habits. Based on those insights, the platform categorizes users to personalize their experience, helping each person find more relevant content directly from the home screen.

For users, VTVgo The Next has been developed with a focus on improving the overall experience. Performance has been optimized for smoother operation and shorter waiting times, while the interface has been redesigned to be simpler, more intuitive and easier to navigate.

As an ecosystem, VTVgo The Next expands and diversifies its digital services, bringing content, entertainment and utilities together on a single platform to provide users with a more seamless and comprehensive experience.
