Tran Cam Tu, permanent member of the Communist Party of Vietnam Central Committee's Secretariat, chaired a conference at the Party Central Committee headquarters on the afternoon of Sept. 18 to announce personnel decisions by the Politburo and the Secretariat.

The Politburo decided to reassign Tan and appoint him to the Ho Chi Minh City Party Committee and its Standing Board, as well as deputy secretary of the committee for the 2025-2030 term.

Tan, born in 1975 in the central province of Nghe An, holds a master's degree in commercial law and a bachelor's degree in international law.

He has spent many years at the Ministry of Industry and Trade, serving in positions including deputy head of the WTO Division under the Multilateral Trade Policy Department, director of the Vietnam Competition and Consumer Authority and deputy minister.

The Ho Chi Minh City Party Committee is currently headed by Secretary Tran Luu Quang. Its deputy secretaries include Le Quoc Phong, the standing deputy secretary; Nguyen Van Duoc, chairman of the city's People's Committee; Vo Van Minh, chairman of the city's People's Council; Nguyen Phuoc Loc, chairman of the city's Vietnam Fatherland Front Committee; Dang Minh Thong; Nguyen Sinh Nhat Tan; and Van Thi Bach Tuyet.
