At a welcoming meeting this morning, Deputy Minister of Foreign Affairs Le Thi Thu Hang received a delegation of foreign reporters in Hanoi who are covering the 14th National Congress of the Communist Party of Vietnam. The delegation includes journalists from Communist Party newspapers, major political publications, media outlets serving overseas Vietnamese communities, and leading international news agencies.

Speaking on behalf of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs and as a member of the Congress’ Media Subcommittee, Deputy Minister Hang extended her warm welcome and appreciation to the visiting press corps.

She emphasized that the 14th Party Congress marks a defining moment in Vietnam’s development journey. It not only reviews the country’s achievements over 40 years of Đổi mới (Renovation) but also charts a visionary course for the nation’s future, with bold and strategic decisions to propel Vietnam into a new era of development.

Despite the unpredictable global and regional dynamics of 2025, Vietnam has achieved significant institutional reforms under the Party’s leadership. These include the enactment of nine strategic resolutions across key sectors, the restructuring of administrative boundaries, and the implementation of a streamlined two-tier local governance model.

Vietnam continues to shine as a bright spot in the region. The national economy has reached a scale of USD 510 billion, with a growth rate exceeding 8%. Exports have surged to a record USD 800 billion, and the country welcomed over 20 million international visitors in the past year.

Security and defense remain firmly safeguarded, while Vietnam's international stature continues to rise. These accomplishments have garnered extensive coverage from global media, further amplifying the country’s profile worldwide.

With this momentum, Deputy Minister Hang urged relevant departments within the Foreign Ministry to create optimal conditions for foreign journalists working during the Congress. She emphasized the importance of ensuring that the messages and outcomes of the Congress are communicated to the world in a comprehensive, accurate, and constructive manner.

She expressed hope that the visiting journalists would have a successful and enriching assignment  -  one that allows them to witness Vietnam’s socio-economic progress firsthand and experience its rich cultural and historical heritage. Their work, she noted, plays a crucial role in promoting a more nuanced and authentic image of Vietnam to the global community.

Representatives of the foreign press thanked the Vietnamese government for its warm welcome and thoughtful arrangements. They expressed their honor in being present in Vietnam at this pivotal political juncture and looked forward to reporting on the 14th Party Congress.

Many highlighted Vietnam’s remarkable achievements after four decades of reform as compelling evidence of the Communist Party’s effective leadership. They cited Vietnam as a vivid example of successful national development and affirmed their commitment to delivering truthful and objective coverage of the Congress’s agenda and decisions.

During the meeting, Deputy Minister Hang also addressed various questions from reporters concerning Vietnam’s economic and social developments.

She took the opportunity to underscore the vital role of the overseas Vietnamese community, both in the historic struggle for independence and in the country’s ongoing journey of national development.

She expressed hope that the Vietnamese diaspora would continue to stand alongside their compatriots at home and make meaningful contributions to the nation’s advancement, helping Vietnam thrive in the era of prosperity and global integration.
