The process of making this coconut candy involves a blend of grated coconut meat, coconut milk, coconut cream, sugar, and malt syrup.

Skilled artisans cook this mixture in a large pan, stirring continuously until it turns a caramel color and thickens. The mixture is then poured into molds, cooled, cut into rectangular pieces, and wrapped in rice paper to prevent sticking, followed by a layer of regular paper soaked in oil, as detailed by the Taste Atlas.

Coconut candy, a famous snack originating from Mo Cay District in Ben Tre Province, has evolved over the years. In addition to the traditional version, there are now many variations with unique flavors such as roasted peanuts, pandan leaves, and durian.

Historical records suggest that coconut candy first appeared around 1810 in Mo Cay District. Initially called Mo Cay candy, it has since evolved in recipe and flavor.

Known for its soft and chewy texture, the candy reflects the sweet and fragrant taste of the coconut, typical of the Western region of Vietnam. It gradually melts in the mouth, offering a delightful taste experience.
