Released on September 25, The Journey of Heroes has dominated Vietnam's box office for nearly three consecutive weeks. By 4 p.m. on October 11, the film had officially passed the $15.4 million mark.

According to Box Office Vietnam, the film has been breaking revenue milestones at remarkable speed. It earned approximately $772,000 on its opening day, reached $1.93 million after two days and crossed $3.86 million in just three and a half days. By its eighth day, ticket sales had surpassed $7.72 million, before climbing to $11.6 million on day 10 and $15.4 million on day 17.

The performance has propelled The Journey of Heroes to seventh place among the highest-grossing Vietnamese films of all time, behind Mua do (Red Rain), five films directed by Tran Thanh and Ly Hai's Lat mat 7 (Face Off 7: One Wish).

For leading man Steven Nguyen, the success marks a particularly significant milestone. He has become the first actor in Vietnamese cinema to appear in two films released in consecutive years whose combined box-office earnings exceed $38.6 million.

His previous film, Red Rain, grossed approximately $27.6 million, while The Journey of Heroes has now brought in another $15.4 million, taking their combined earnings past $43 million.

Strong word of mouth continues to fuel the film's momentum nearly three weeks into its theatrical run. On October 10 alone, it generated approximately $772,000 from more than 5,000 screenings nationwide.

Meanwhile, the film's producers, screenwriter and creative team have expressed their willingness to explore an edited version suitable for audiences aged 13 and above. Any such version would need to comply fully with the classification requirements and decisions of the relevant authorities before becoming available to younger viewers. The film is currently restricted to audiences aged 18 and over.

The film's extraordinary commercial success has left competing releases far behind.

An mang xem hoan hao (The Almost Perfect Murder), starring Anh Tu Atus, opened on October 9 and had earned less than $232,000 by 4 p.m. on October 11, despite ranking second at the box office.

The horror film Nguoi me khac (Other Mommy) followed in third place with more than $212,000.

Animated feature Shaun the Sheep: The Beast of Mossy Bottom, which began screening on October 10, ranked fourth with approximately $38,600.

Rounding out the top five was Avengers: Endgame, whose cumulative Vietnamese box-office revenue has exceeded $11.7 million, including earnings from its original theatrical release in April 2019.

Little is expected to change at the top of Vietnam's box office next weekend, with The Journey of Heroes likely to maintain its lead as most other Vietnamese productions have postponed their release dates.

One notable arrival, however, will be the 18-rated psychological thriller Verity, featuring Hollywood stars Anne Hathaway and Dakota Johnson.
