For the third consecutive week, Five-Toed Pig remained at the top of the box office, overtaking Phi Phong and reaching VND113 billion ($4.4 million) after 17 days in theaters, according to Box Office Vietnam data released on the morning of May 11.

Rather than relying on formulaic jump scares, Five-Toed Pig focuses on exposing painful social realities.

The film delves into the commercialization of spirituality, where faith is reduced to transactions and moral corruption hides beneath the veneer of belief.

Most strikingly, it portrays the blind protection parents sometimes give their children, revealing the devastating consequences of love placed in the wrong hands.

The theme of karmic consequence runs throughout the film with brutal clarity, as every wrongdoing ultimately demands a price.

Meanwhile, Phi Phong has maintained steady momentum at the box office and has now surpassed VND192 billion ($7.5 million).

The arrival of Hollywood release Mortal Kombat 2: Final Battle also ended the dominance of Vietnamese films within the top five highest-grossing titles.

Released last weekend, the film debuted in third place and has so far earned VND7 billion ($275,000).

Ngoc Trinh’s Underworld Beauty Clinic, which premiered the same weekend, ranked fourth at the box office with revenue of nearly VND10 billion ($393,000).

Rounding out the top five was Hollywood blockbuster The Devil Wears Prada 2 with earnings of VND7 billion ($275,000).

Hero, starring Thai Hoa, dropped to eighth place at the box office and has currently grossed more than VND44 billion ($1.7 million).

The following spots belonged to Shell Boss by Duc Thinh and Blood Moon Party 8, which have earned nearly VND17 billion ($668,000) and more than VND32 billion ($1.25 million), respectively.

Previously, horror film Phi Phong: Sacred Forest Blood Demon, starring Quoc Tuan and Lan Phuong, remained one of the country’s biggest box office hits with revenue nearing VND180 billion ($7 million).

Meanwhile, Shell Boss and Blood Moon Party 8 were reportedly facing the prospect of heavy financial losses.
