Dr. Tran Quang Huy, from the National Institute of Hygiene and Epidemiology, has been elected to be a member of the Global Young Academy (GYA).

Huy was among among 40 finalists selected from 270 candidates worldwide who applied for GYA membership this year.
Born in 1978 in Ninh Binh province, Huy graduated from the Physics Faculty of the Vietnam National University, Hanoi in 2000. He received a doctoral degree in Materials Science from the Hanoi University of Technology in 2008.
As an expert in microscopy, microanalysis and biomedical nanotechnology, Huy has chaired more than 10 research projects and published more than 50 scientific articles of high International Scientific Indexing (ISI).
Currently holding the chairmanship of the Vietnam Young Academy, Huy is the only Vietnamese representative elected to the GYA in 2017.
Established in 2010, the Germany-based GYA has gathered outstanding young scientists from around the world. GYA has a maximum membership of 200, elected from young scientists below 40 years of age that have attained excellent scientific achievements.
The membership’s tenure is five years. GYA members, coming from 70 countries worldwide, are invited to attend annual GYA meetings together with famous scientists and political activists.
