According to Dang Hoang Vu, FPT’s Chief Scientist, AI is no longer unfamiliar, but it is present in many areas of life. AI is not something unattainable and abstract, but can be easily applied.

“We don’t need super professors or talented scientists to utilize AI. Vietnamese engineers can also use existing tools to apply AI,” Vu said.

Also according to Vu, it is easier now to utilize AI in education. The requirement rate is not high, just hundreds of million of dong would be enough to build up a small app.

Many education establishments in Vietnam have been utilizing AI in school management and teaching, and have had encouraging initial achievements.

The AI application in education is still not commonlike in other fields, however, with its high effectiveness, some schools have begun cooperating with technology firms to use AI in teaching and management. The changes at the schools utilizing AI are very clear.

At the HCM City University of Food Industry, AI has been applied not only in information collection and processing that serves management work, but also in teaching English.

According to Tran Tin Nghi, MA, Foreign Language Dean of the HCM City University of Food Industry, his faculty is trying AI chatbot to collect students’ information related to their habits, hobbies and learning methods, and to collect grammar mistakes students often make.

The information allows the faculty to adjust the content of teaching plans, and give online exercises to students through MyELT platform, a product developed by the school and National Geographic Learning.

“We have found significant changes in the quality of lessons and students’ interest in learning. The disciplinary space has been expanding, with no boundary,” Nghi said.

It is used to manage students, call the roll, mark multiple-choice exam papers and exchange with students. Some schools and universities in HCM City also use AI to make lectures more attractive and lively with the open endless space of the classrooms.

Hong Bang International University has applied AI in recognizing faces and voices of students that serve the roll call. FPT University also uses AI to manage students in dormitories and mark exam papers.

According to Dr Nguyen Van Tuyen from VioEdu (FPT), the online education system, AI changes the role of teachers in teaching and personalizes learning. It has created a revolution in education.

AI cannot replace teachers. However, the work teachers do in class will change with the presence of AI.
