According to Booking.com, three destinations in Southern Vietnam are attracting the most interest among Vietnamese travelers during Tet, from the 27th day of the last lunar month to the sixth day of the new year.

Phu Quoc, Vung Tau and Ho Chi Minh City rank as the top choices.

The ideal time to visit Phu Quoc falls between November and April, the island’s dry season when the weather is warm, the sea is calm and rain is minimal.

Accommodation options on the island range widely from budget guesthouses to world-class resorts.

However, travelers are advised to book early during Tet due to high demand.

Tourism complexes in Phu Quoc continue to grow under the “all-in-one” model, helping visitors save travel time, manage expenses and still enjoy a full spectrum of activities.

This trend aligns with the modern Tet holiday mindset, in which vacations combine relaxation, exploration, entertainment and premium services.

Phu Quoc’s main tourism areas are divided into four regions: the central zone in Duong Dong Town, the southern area, the northern area and the eastern area, each offering different types of experiences.

Local specialties on the island include herring salad, Hàm Ninh crab, grilled biên mai scallops and sea cucumbers.

The Kiss Bridge on Phu Quoc was named the “World’s Leading Iconic Tourist Bridge” at the 2025 World Travel Awards.

Vung Tau and Ho Chi Minh City remain highly popular for Tet travel thanks to convenient access from the city center.

Before and after Tet, Vung Tau is ideal for swimming and for viewing the cherry blossoms blooming at Nuoc Ngot Pass in Long Hai.

Back Beach, also called Thuy Van Beach, is the longest and most beautiful beach in Vung Tau, known for its wide stretch of soft white sand.

Front Beach, also known as Tam Duong Beach, faces west and offers spectacular sunset views.

Visitors seeking quieter scenery can head to Dua Beach or Dau Beach.

During Tet, travelers can also visit Hon Ba Shrine.

Perched 4 meters above sea level, the shrine is renowned not only for its unique setting but also because visitors must time their trip carefully.

Only when the tide retreats does the pathway appear.

Traditionally, during the Lunar New Year period, the tide lowers in the morning, making it convenient for locals and tourists to visit the shrine and pray for peace and good luck.

Vung Tau’s sunsets bring a calm and picturesque atmosphere to the seaside town.

Ba Den Mount in Tay Ninh is another beloved spring destination.

Located in Binh Minh Ward, Tay Ninh Province, the mountain stands 986 meters high, making it the tallest peak in Southern Vietnam and earning the title “the first sacred mountain.”

It was recognized as a national historical and scenic site by the Ministry of Culture, Sports and Tourism on January 21, 1989.

During Tet, the weather around Ba Den Mount is typically sunny with little rain, creating favorable conditions for sightseeing.

Visitors can explore a system of pagodas, temples and caves scattered from the foot of the mountain to its mid-slope.

Linh Son Thanh Mau Bodhisattva is considered the mountain’s central deity and is worshipped across all religious structures on-site.

The Ba Den complex offers numerous check-in and photography spots.

Beyond the decorative zones near the cable car station and trekking paths, travelers can capture memories at the 986-meter summit marker, the Van Son cloud-viewing terrace, the tulip garden, the Vo Nga garden, the Van Son Heaven Gate, the Tay Bo Da Son Buddha statue and the escalator pathway leading to the Maitreya Bodhisattva statue.

From February 20 (the fourth day of Tet), Ba Den Mount will host the “Huong Sac Tay Ninh 2026” festival featuring folk performances, a tulip garden with thousands of blooms and ceremonial rituals honoring the Buddha.
