She joined Vietnamese photographer Thanh Huynh for a 9-day trip to explore the diverse cuisine of all regions in Vietnam. She then shared her experiences in Vietnam with readers of Lonely Planet.

Vespa motorbike tour: On her first night in Ho Chi Minh City, she chose to sit on the back of an old Vespa motorbike to tour the city center and taste the diverse flavors of local cuisine at markets. She was especially impressed with roasted duck and Vietnamese banh mi (Vietnamese sandwich).

Exploring the Mekong Delta: In the southern province of Ben Tre, Brekke took a boat tour to discover the waterway life of the southwestern region of Vietnam. She stopped at a craft workshop and had lunch with a local family.

Taking a train to former royal capital Hue: The writer for Lonely Planet did not hesitate to praise the railway journey from HCM City to Hue, saying it was one of the most beautiful train journeys in Southeast Asia. During the train trip, visitors can enjoy views of the natural scenery and local life, as well as buy snacks from vendors along the way.

Visiting Lan Ha Bay: Cruising on the beautiful bay was also a memorable experience for Brekke. Kayaking into a sea cave and sipping cocktails at dawn is something visitors shouldn't miss, she said.

Enjoying a meal with a Hanoian family: On the last night, she decided to have a meal with a native Hanoi family. Brekke enjoyed a grilled fish dish, which is a specialty of the capital city.
