This decision follows the findings of an inspection conducted by the Ministry of Information and Communications (MIC), as well as a resolution by the Vietnam Publishers Association.

Zing News recently communicated this development to its readership. In its official statement regarding the temporary halt, the online magazine emphasised its commitment to addressing and rectifying existing issues, in strict accordance with the provisions outlined in Decision No. 62/QD-TTg that was issued by the prime minister in April 2019.

This decision serves as the official approval for the national development and management plan for the press in Vietnam, spanning until 2025.

The rationale behind Zing News' decision stems from the desire to diligently comply with Decision No.362/QD-TTg and undertake any necessary measures to resolve the identified shortcomings.

By doing so, the magazine aims to align its operations with the aforementioned government directive, which seeks to guide and regulate the development and management of the press within the country.

Within the announcement, Zing News further reiterated its commitment to renewing its content and presentation, ensuring strict adherence to the defined mission and purpose as stipulated in its licensing agreement.

The magazine, which falls under the purview of the Vietnam Publishers Association, aims to leverage its unique identity as a purveyor of reliable information and captivating imagery, with the ultimate goal of enhancing the service to its loyal readers on the resumption of its operations.

In an interview with Vietnamnet, Luu Dinh Phuc, director of the Press Authority under the MIC, confirmed that Zing News had formally submitted a letter to the Press Authority, voluntarily requesting the temporary suspension to strengthen its operations and address the underlying concerns.

Ngo Huy Toan, head of the Press and Publishing Inspection Division within the MIC, clarified that no official decisions have been made by the ministry regarding Zing News.

Toan remarked that as Zing News proactively sought the temporary suspension, any identified violations will be duly addressed and resolved in adherence to standard procedures during the hiatus period.
