Hollywood’s animated hit “Zootopia 2” continues its box office reign in Vietnam, overshadowing local releases despite star-studded casts.
Over the weekend, Disney’s blockbuster Zootopia 2 continued to dominate Vietnam’s box office, leaving local productions, including those starring Doan Quoc Dam and Anh Tu Atus, struggling in its wake.

Zootopia 2 maintained its top position at Vietnamese theaters, delivering an astonishing box office performance that defied expectations for an international release - especially in a market where Vietnamese films have recently enjoyed near-absolute supremacy.
The sequel grossed 59 billion VND (approximately USD 2.43 million) over the weekend, up from 41.6 billion VND (USD 1.71 million) the previous week. With 588,205 tickets sold across 10,087 screenings, the film has reached a cumulative gross of 136 billion VND (USD 5.6 million) in just 10 days, according to Box Office Vietnam.
Zootopia 2 now stands a strong chance of surpassing the 170 billion VND (USD 7 million) mark, which would make it the highest-grossing animated film in Vietnam’s box office history. This would also mark the first time a Disney title outperforms juggernauts like Conan, Doraemon, and Demon Slayer since 2022.

The red-hot performance of Zootopia 2 effectively sank newly released Vietnamese horror title Demonic Prince, which managed just 13 billion VND (USD 535,000) over the weekend - roughly one-quarter of the animated juggernaut’s haul.
Directed by Tran Huu Tan, Demonic Prince features a cast including Anh Tu Atus, Luong The Thanh, Hoang Linh Chi, and Rima Thanh Vy. The film is adapted from the historical fantasy novel Ly Trieu Di Truyen by Phan Cuong. Blending horror and period drama, it transports viewers to a realm where forgotten legends awaken, confronting human greed, obsession, and desire.
Meanwhile, The Quest for Dragon Musk, starring Doan Quoc Dam, dropped to third place at the box office with a weekend gross of just 6.7 billion VND (USD 275,000). However, the film has already surpassed the 194 billion VND (USD 7.9 million) mark and is expected to cross 200 billion VND (USD 8.15 million) within the week.
Rounding out the top five are Jujutsu Kaisen: Cursed Battle (1.7 billion VND or USD 69,000) and Now You See Me: Vanishing Act (1.6 billion VND or USD 65,000).
