Located about 110km from Hanoi’s center, Thang Phuc pagoda (also known as Vong Phuc pagoda) is a famous spiritual destination in Hai Phong. The pagoda is located on the bank of Van Uc river, next to An Thap wharf, in My Loc village, Tien Thang commune, Tien Lang district.

Thang Phuc Pagoda owns the statue of Shakyamuni Buddha made with the largest monolithic driftwood in Vietnam, attracting a large number of visitors from all over the country.

This statue is made from rosewood driftwood of 700 years old, 7.85m long, 1.85m in diameter and weighing 18 tons, originating from Africa. This particular material (driftwood - the core of dead trees, usually old trees) is very hardy and is never attacked by termites.

The statue was made by skilled workers for six months, with a height of 1.9m, a length of 7.7m, and a weight of more than 10 tons.
