Vietnam joins the U.S. and Singapore in the first wave of iPhone 17 sales - a first for the country.

After a period of coordination and negotiation, Apple has signed a security certification agreement with the Authority of Telecommunications. This enabled secure testing and certification processes that meet Apple’s strict requirements ahead of the iPhone 17 launch.

Vietnam has, for the first time, been included in the group of countries that will receive the new iPhone 17 in the earliest launch wave - an unprecedented move in the history of iPhone releases. According to Apple, Vietnamese users will be able to get their hands on the iPhone 17 starting September 19, alongside users in the US and Singapore.

Historically, Apple has only launched its new phones early in markets where it operates physical Apple Stores. Vietnam, however, only has an Apple Store Online. Nevertheless, thanks to strong sales performance, Vietnam has been placed in Apple’s priority group despite not having a physical presence.

A representative from the Authority of Telecommunications (under the Ministry of Science and Technology) explained to VietNamNet that aside from market considerations, Apple maintains exceptionally high standards for data security. Typically, testing and quality certification for new devices are carried out only after the product is officially launched. However, in recent years, the Authority has worked closely with Apple to minimize the time gap between launches in Vietnam and Apple’s top-tier markets.

“In 2025, after years of collaboration and negotiation, Apple officially signed a security certification agreement with the Center for Telecommunications Quality Measurement, under the Authority of Telecommunications of the Ministry of Science and Technology. This allowed secure testing and certification to be conducted in advance, meeting Apple’s strict security standards. As a result, Vietnam has been elevated to a Tier 1 market for Apple, enabling Vietnamese users to receive the latest devices on launch day,” the Authority’s representative shared.

With this development, Vietnam is now one of the earliest markets to receive the iPhone 17, a milestone never before achieved with previous iPhone generations. Apple has updated pricing details for the iPhone 17 on its official website, including the following models:

The standard iPhone 17 is available in lavender purple, sage green, smoky blue, white, and black. It is priced at approximately $1,050 for the 256GB version and $1,320 for the 512GB version.

The iPhone Air comes in sky blue, light yellow, white, and black. Pricing is approximately $1,345 for the 256GB model, $1,615 for the 512GB model, and $1,890 for the 1TB version.

The iPhone 17 Pro is available in silver, cosmic orange, and deep blue. It is priced at around $1,470 for 256GB, $1,745 for 512GB, and $2,020 for the 1TB version.
