A series of leaks from the supply chain and industry sources suggests Apple is preparing major changes for the iPhone 18 Pro Max, ranging from the all-new A20 Pro processor and more powerful artificial intelligence capabilities to a substantially upgraded camera system.

If these reports prove accurate, the iPhone 18 Pro and iPhone 18 Pro Max would not only deliver improved performance but also represent a major step forward in on-device AI processing while enhancing photography and video recording capabilities.

However, Apple has not officially confirmed any specifications, pricing or launch schedule for the new models.

A20 Pro 2nm chip could deliver a major performance boost

The most significant rumored upgrade is the A20 Pro processor, which is expected to become Apple's first smartphone chip manufactured using TSMC's 2-nanometer (2nm) process.

Compared with the 3nm technology used in current iPhone models, the 2nm process allows more transistors to be integrated into the same silicon area.

This is expected to provide significantly higher performance while reducing power consumption.

As a result, the iPhone 18 Pro Max is expected to offer faster processing speeds, smoother multitasking and noticeably improved battery life.

The new chip could also deliver better thermal efficiency, enabling the device to sustain peak performance for longer periods during gaming, video editing and demanding AI workloads.

In addition to the new manufacturing process, Apple is also rumored to introduce Wafer-Level Multi-Chip Module (WMCM) packaging technology to an iPhone for the first time.
