A week after being crowned Miss International 2024, Huynh Thi Thanh Thuy returned to Vietnam and attended a media event alongside prominent figures, including Pham Kim Dung, Chairperson of Miss International Vietnam, Stephen Diaz, Communications Director of the Miss International organization, and Phung Cong Suong, Editor-in-Chief of Tien Phong Newspaper.
After her crowning moment in Japan, Thanh Thuy embarked on a demanding schedule. Over five days, she fulfilled her initial duties, including interviews with international media, meetings with partners, and visits to exhibitions and notable landmarks.
Upon her return to Vietnam, Thanh Thuy organized three Homecoming events in Ho Chi Minh City, Hanoi, and Da Nang, coupled with media engagements. On November 20, she will visit her hometown of Da Nang to reunite with teachers, friends, and family, and meet with the City Youth Union to plan future initiatives.
During her one-year reign, Thanh Thuy intends to pursue a project connecting Vietnamese and Japanese cultures. This includes engaging with Vietnamese communities, hosting gatherings, and supporting international students. Earlier, during the Miss International competition, she visited the Vietnamese Embassy in Japan.
Thanh Thuy also plans to expand her humanitarian efforts, focusing on sustainable projects that provide clean water and improve living conditions in salt-affected regions of Vietnam. Her previous initiative, which involved installing free water filtration systems in Thanh Phong commune, Ben Tre province, was the project she presented at Miss International.
Thanh Thuy’s eloquent response during the final Q&A highlighted the importance of education and the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs), aligning with the competition’s theme. Her thoughtful preparation earned her high praise from the judges.
Reflecting on her crowning moment, Thanh Thuy shared, “If my name wasn’t announced, I’d bow gracefully. If it was, I wanted to look up beautifully.” She emphasized her commitment throughout the competition to showcasing her efforts and authentic self.
Her youthful charm and sincerity resonated with the pageant's organizers, as the contest values individuality and authenticity. Thanh Thuy focused on self-improvement rather than competing against others, winning the judges’ hearts with her genuine and lively demeanor.
Pham Kim Dung, Chairperson of Miss International Vietnam, described Thanh Thuy’s participation as a strategic decision. Rather than relying solely on rankings in domestic contests, the selection emphasized alignment with Miss International’s criteria.
Thanh Thuy’s balanced facial features, graceful figure, and poised yet dynamic personality embody the essence of a Miss International winner. Since being chosen, she dedicated herself to rigorous training, enhancing her knowledge, communication skills, stage presence, and image.
Currently pursuing dual degrees at the University of Foreign Languages (University of Danang) and Greenwich University Vietnam, Thanh Thuy juggles academics, entertainment events, and commercial activities with discipline and resilience.
Thanh Thuy’s win marks Vietnam’s first-ever Miss International title in the competition’s 60-year history. Her triumph represents a significant milestone for the country on the global beauty stage.
Stephen Diaz, Communications Director of Miss International, praised Thanh Thuy, affectionately calling her “Tit,” and described her victory as well-deserved. He views this as a stepping stone for Vietnam’s continued success in the pageant.
The Miss International organization plans to accompany Thanh Thuy during her initial activities in Vietnam, followed by international tours to promote the competition and Vietnamese culture.
Phung Cong Suong, Editor-in-Chief of Tien Phong Newspaper, commended Thanh Thuy’s achievement, stating that she embodied the spirit and energy of Vietnam’s beauty ambassador.
