According to the Ministry of Culture, Sports and Tourism, the first Cultural festival of ethnic groups with a population of less than 10,000 people will be held with the theme "Preserving, promoting and spreading traditional cultural identities of ethnic minorities" will take place from October 6 - 8, in Lai Chau province.

As many as 13 localities participating in the festival, including: Lai Chau, Cao Bang, Thai Nguyen, Dien Bien, Ha Giang, Lao Cai, Yen Bai, Tuyen Quang, Son La, Nghe An, Ha Tinh, Quang Binh and Kon Tum, with 14 participating ethnic groups with a population of less than 10,000 people (O Du, Brau, Ro Mam, Pu Peo, Si La, Cong, Bo Y, Co Lao, Mang, Lo Lo, Chut, Lu, Pa Then and Ngai).

Within the framework of the festival, many activities will be organized such as performances, introductions of festival excerpts, and traditional cultural rituals of ethnic groups with a population of less than 10,000 people. A Mass Arts Festival is also scheduled with performance of folk songs, folk dance, traditional costumes of ethnic groups with a population of less than 10,000 people (weekly costumes, festivals, weddings).

Localities will arrange their display spaces to introduce cultural products of ethnic groups with a population of less than 10,000 people, introducing images and documents about their tourism, culture, and human history, and cultural artifacts associated with the daily life of the people. Along with that will be a demonstration of traditional crafts of ethnic groups with a population of less than 10,000 people.

The festival aims to honor and promote the identity values of ethnic minorities, contributing to educating patriotic traditions, national pride, and strengthening the great unity of ethnic groups.

Activities in the festival will contribute to raising awareness and social responsibility in preserving and promoting the cultural identity of 54 ethnic groups in Vietnam; preserving and promoting traditional culture, contributing to building an advanced Vietnamese culture, which is rich in national identity, meets the requirements of sustainable development of the country according to Resolution No. 33-NQ/TW, Resolutions of the 13th National Congress of the Party and the 2021 National Cultural Conference.
