Instead of traditional gifts like money, gold, or property, many parents in Vietnam have chosen to surprise their daughters with heartfelt and unique performances at their weddings.
These have included vibrant dance routines-ranging from folk dance to Zumba-and even martial arts demonstrations. Videos capturing these emotional and energetic moments have racked up millions of views across social media.
Mom in Quang Tri energizes wedding with vibrant dance
At her daughter’s wedding in July 2025, Hoang Bao Anh (born 1972, originally from Quang Binh, now living in Quang Tri) gave her child an unforgettable gift: a dynamic and beautiful dance performance that electrified the entire celebration.
Her performance quickly captured the attention of the online community.
Bao Anh had spent three years as a member of a local dance club. When planning the wedding of her daughter, Ha My (born 1999), she wanted to create a lasting family memory. So she came up with the idea of performing with her dance group.
Beforehand, she consulted her daughter, who enthusiastically supported the idea. With that encouragement, she fully committed to rehearsing for the big day.
After the bride and groom completed their wedding rituals, the mother of the bride and her group took to the stage for their dance. The lively performance instantly drew everyone’s attention, shifting focus from the banquet tables to the dance floor.
For Bao Anh, this was more than just entertainment-it was a heartfelt expression of love and a meaningful blessing from a mother to her daughter.

Dad in Ha Tinh delivers Karate performance at daughter’s wedding
At another wedding in November 2025, Pham Binh (50, from Ha Tinh) stunned guests with a powerful gift: a Karate demonstration performed alongside ten friends.
The video of Binh’s commanding martial arts display quickly went viral online.
A longtime martial artist, Binh shared that Karate is a family tradition. He has practiced the discipline for over 30 years and served as a Karate coach for six. Both his eldest daughter (the bride) and his youngest daughter also practice the sport.
Wanting to celebrate his daughter’s wedding in a way that honored his family’s values, Binh planned the performance with support from the Ha Tinh Karate Association.
The routine he performed was called Tekki Shodan. Through the kata, he sent a message to his daughter: “Life will have its storms. Even when cornered, stand strong like an iron horse. With one counterstrike, end any assault coming from all directions.”
Binh’s unique and emotional tribute left viewers amazed. For him, it was a joyful moment of passing down wisdom and love.
Mom in Hanoi lights up the stage with Zumba
Tran Thi Hanh (born 1972, from Phu Dong commune, Hanoi) also chose to surprise her daughter at her wedding in December 2025-with a vibrant Zumba performance.
The video of Hanh and her dance group lit up social media, attracting hundreds of thousands of views and countless heart emojis. Their enthusiasm and polished choreography were widely praised.
Hanh shared that this was the first time she and her husband had ever organized a wedding. They wanted everything to be perfect and meaningful, putting great care into every detail-from choosing a professional wedding planner to selecting the catering team.
As Hanh and her group danced joyfully onstage, her daughter spontaneously joined in, adding to the excitement. Their shared moment became a cherished memory of the day.
