Tan Son commune in Pleiku city, Gia Lai province has two ethnic minority villages, where people's lives mainly rely on agricultural production. Every year, the local authorities provide free breeds, free seeeds and organize training classes to transfer new knowledge in agricultural production to local residents.

The local government also coordinates with relevant organizations and agencies to organize study tours for ethnic minority people to enable them exchange production and life experiences, as well as calls for local people to restructure crops and livestock. 

The People's Committee of Tan Son commune recently coordinated with the College of Gia Lai Province to successfully organize a training class on community-based tourism for young ethnic minority people.

Attending the 2-month course, 33 young people were equipped with basic knowledge and skills about community-based tourism by a team of qualified and experienced teachers from the Gia Lai College. The course well combinesd theoretical work with practiccal activities on visitor guiding skills, accommodation services, cuisine, cultural activities...

Tan Son is a commune on the outskirts of Pleiku city with many beautiful natural landscapes. In recent years, Tan Son has been a familiar tourist destination on weekends, holidays, and Tet for not only local residents but also tourists from neighboring districts and provinces.

The course on community-based tourism is expected to help create jobs and increase income for young ethnic minority people in Tan Son commune and considered a premise for young people to start a business, promoting local strengths and cultural identities for economic development.
