The event will showcase 100 supercars, featuring many rare and expensive models owned by participants from 40 countries.
The rally will commence at Le Loi Avenue, District 1, Ho Chi Minh City, on September 14 and will traverse Vietnam, Cambodia, Thailand, Malaysia, and Singapore before concluding on September 23. This year’s event also marks the 25th anniversary of the Gumball 3000.
Le Loi Street will transform into a stage for these supercars, many of which are rare collectibles. The fleet includes prestigious brands like Porsche, Bugatti, Koenigsegg, Lamborghini, McLaren, and Rolls-Royce.
Participants include music stars, famous artists, royalty, sports figures, gamers, YouTubers, and entrepreneurs.
Leading the fleet is Mr. Maximillion Cooper, Gumball 3000’s founder, driving a Lamborghini SVJ with YouTuber James Walker.
Notable participants include Prince HRH Moe Al Thani from Qatar driving a Rolls-Royce Cullinan and football legend Patrice Evra with a Rolls-Royce Cullinan.
Australian YouTuber Lazarbeam and British YouTuber Sidemen Vikkstar will drive a Land Rover Defender, while American YouTuber DailyDrivenExotics will appear with a Lamborghini SVJ.
Among the participants, the only two Vietnamese are Mr. Sang Tran (Gulfstream Inc, Canada) and Mr. Tri Nguyen (Not Polish Company, USA).
Mr. Dang Le Nguyen Vu, chairman of Trung Nguyen Coffee Group, will also display 18 supercars, including Ferrari models and a pair of Ford GTs valued over 120 billion VND.
Mr. Cooper stated: "Among the 500 participants, many are experiencing Vietnam for the first time. We hope to create memorable experiences and spread positivity despite the short duration."
Each of the 100 supercars corresponds to a team of 2-3 drivers. Teams have engaged in fundraising for the Gumball 3000 Fund, which supports youth activities globally, including in Vietnam. The team raising the most funds will start the journey first from Ho Chi Minh City.
At the press conference, Mr. Cooper expressed sympathy for the Vietnamese affected by recent natural disasters, leading to a scaled-back event without the music festival portion.
The Gumball 3000 founder has also launched a fundraising campaign to support recovery efforts from storm number 3. Donations, including $10,000 from Mr. Sang Tran and Mr. Tri Nguyen, will be presented at the 25th-anniversary ceremony at the Thong Nhat Hall - Independence Palace.
Two weeks prior, supercars were transported to Vietnam and assembled in Binh Duong, with preparations coordinated by local and Malaysian teams. Some vehicles were rewrapped by Vietnamese teams to match global standards.
Gumball 3000, established in 1999, is a 3,000 km road event that is not a race but follows strict speed limits. The event has gained global anticipation over 25 years, with nearly 70 participants including billionaires and top wealthiest individuals.
