On August 23, the Hanoi Center for Transport Management and Operation (Tramoc) announced that public transport passengers will enjoy free rides on buses and metro lines across the city during the upcoming National Day holiday.
This initiative is designed to support residents and visitors attending events celebrating the 80th anniversary of Vietnam’s National Day (September 2, 1945 - September 2, 2025), as well as those traveling to revolutionary historical sites. Tramoc is coordinating with bus operators and Hanoi Metro Company to implement the free service.
Four days of free travel across the city
The program applies to all 128 subsidized bus routes in Hanoi and two operating metro lines: Line 2A (Cat Linh - Ha Dong) and Line 3.1 (Nhon - Cau Giay). The free service will run from August 30 to September 2, 2025, covering four consecutive days.
For bus users, passengers will still be issued a ticket according to each route’s fare but will not have to pay. For metro users, paper tickets will be distributed according to fare regulations set by the Hanoi People’s Committee, but no payment will be required. Monthly ticket holders, including those with priority passes, simply present their cards as usual.
This policy aims to reduce travel costs for citizens, encourage the use of public transport, and ease traffic pressure during the capital’s busiest holiday period.
