The incident occurred around 4 p.m. on December 26 and left Doan Cong Dat (born 2000), the owner of the shop, shaken.
At the time, Dat was cutting a customer’s hair near the entrance when he heard a strange noise coming from the back. He paused and moved to investigate. Just seconds later, a man suddenly crashed through the roof, piercing two layers of plastic ceiling before landing on the shop floor.
“The whole thing happened in a flash,” Dat recalled. “My staff, the customers, and I just instinctively rushed to get out of the way. Thankfully, the two ceiling layers helped break his fall, and he escaped with only minor scratches.”
Dat explained that his barber shop is located in his home. On that day, the neighboring house was undergoing repairs, and the young man had been hired to fix the second-floor roof. While working, he apparently slipped and fell from the second floor onto the shop’s cement roof, crashing all the way down to the ground.
The shop was left in disarray following the accident. Shortly afterward, the owner of the neighboring home came over to apologize and agreed to repair the damaged roof. Dat confirmed that his barber shop has since resumed operation.
“I’m still using a cement-fiber roof but I’ve also added two plastic ceiling layers to help with heat insulation,” he said.
“This incident should serve as a serious reminder for construction workers to always use proper safety equipment and take precautions to avoid life-threatening situations.”
Dat uploaded the surveillance footage to his social media along with a warning for others. The video quickly went viral, drawing widespread attention and debate.
Many viewers compared the moment to scenes from action or sci-fi films. Some even questioned the authenticity of the video, suggesting it might have been edited using technology, as the event looked “too surreal” to be real.
