In Nu village in the northern province of Lao Cai, heavy rain has occurred over the past few days, with this leading to the road going into the village’s centre becoming isolated.

In Bao Yen district, a severe landslide happened on National Highway 279 in Ban Bong 3 village of Bao Ha commune, causing a serious traffic jam.

In Bat Xat district, floods have left 37 houses submerged in Quang Kim commune and 36 houses in Ban Vuoc commune. In Sa Pa town, heavy rain has caused many landslides on the slopes next to the road heading to Ngu Chi Son commune, thereby leading to traffic jams.

In Lao Cai city, the water levels on Ngoi Dum stream are continuing to rise rapidly, thereby affecting areas along National Highway 4D in Bac Cuong and Kim Tan wards and Dong Tuyen commune, causing spells of severe flooding.

Meanwhile, in the northern mountainous province of Ha Giang, the landslide, reported on National Highway No 2 running through Viet Vinh commune of Bac Quang district left three people missing and injured eight others on September 30.

The landslide caused traffic congestion to routes connecting Ha Giang, Tuyen Quang, and other neighbouring localities.

Elsewhere, moderate to heavy rain hit a large area in the northern province of Yen Bai from September 30 to October 1, causing high risks of landslides and flooding.

As a means of ensuring the safety of citizens, local authorities have reminded people to proactively respond to flash floods, landslides, and severe flooding with evacuation plans being put in place to move residents to safe areas.
