At the closing session of Vietnam’s 14th National Party Congress held on January 23, National Assembly Chairman Tran Thanh Man announced that 50 members of the 13th Central Committee did not seek re-election to the new 14th Central Committee.

The ceremony was attended by invited guests including former Party and State leaders, representatives of the Vietnam Fatherland Front, and former Central Committee members from the 4th to 8th tenures. Also present were national heroes, intellectuals, artists, distinguished religious figures, and outstanding youth representatives.

International guests included ambassadors, chargés d’affaires, heads of diplomatic missions, and representatives from international organizations based in Vietnam.

Speaking at the session, Le Quoc Minh, on behalf of the Secretariat delegation, reported that the Congress had received an additional 339 congratulatory letters and messages, bringing the total to 559. These included greetings from 58 political parties, 11 international and regional organizations, 62 individuals, 120 people’s organizations and localities abroad, and 88 Vietnamese associations overseas.

On behalf of the Presidium and all Congress delegates, Prime Minister Pham Minh Chinh expressed deep appreciation to the international community and overseas Vietnamese who sent messages of support and congratulations.

Politburo member and National Assembly Chairman Tran Thanh Man also presented the results of the election of the new Politburo, General Secretary, Secretariat, Central Inspection Commission, and its Chairperson.

The newly elected 14th Central Committee was officially introduced at the session, with General Secretary To Lam delivering a closing address.

A special moment of the session was the Party’s expression of gratitude to the 50 members of the 13th Central Committee who did not return for the 14th term. Flowers were presented in appreciation of their years of dedication and leadership.
