Patrick Patterson secured a spectacular victory in stage 23 of the Ho Chi Minh City Television Cycling Cup, surging past Anton Popov in the final meters.

Strong teams including Ho Chi Minh City Police, Loc Troi Group An Giang, and Dong Thap animated the race from early on, launching repeated attacks. Meanwhile, squads from Ho Chi Minh City and Dong Nai focused on controlling the peloton to protect their standings. The main group, led by yellow jersey holder Yarash Uladzislau, maintained a relentless chase, neutralizing multiple breakaway attempts.

At the first intermediate sprint, Phan Hoang Thai of Dong Thap 1 surged ahead to take top honors. Soon after, a breakaway group of nine riders successfully split from the peloton, with Ta Tuan Vu of Military Zone 7 crossing first at the second sprint.

The race reached its most dramatic phase with 10 km remaining, when Nguyen Tan Hoai of Ho Chi Minh City Police launched a solo attack. His effort was ultimately reeled in just 3 km before the finish, as the Vinh Long team organized a strong chase to position their key sprinter Patterson for the decisive moment.

At the finish line in My Tho, Anton Popov of Thanh Hoa appeared set for victory. However, Patterson unleashed a perfectly timed acceleration in the closing meters, edging ahead with a precise bike throw to claim a dramatic win.

As leading contenders crossed the line together, overall classifications remained unchanged. Yarash Uladzislau retained the yellow jersey, Pham Le Xuan Loc held the orange jersey, Tran Trong Phuc kept the white jersey, and Marchuk Dzianis continued in green. Ho Chi Minh City Vinama remained at the top of the team standings.

Stage 24 of the Ho Chi Minh City Television Cycling Cup - Ton Dong A 2026 will take place on April 29, covering a 146 km route from Dong Thap to Tay Ninh.
