On behalf of the Politburo, Permanent Member of the Party Central Committee's Secretariat Tran Cam Tu signed Decision No. 209 approving the name change.

Under the Politburo's decision, advisory responsibilities related to mass mobilization have been transferred from the commission to the Party Committee of the Vietnam Fatherland Front (VFF) and Central Mass Organizations.

Both the transfer of functions and the commission's new name became effective on August 1.

The restructuring follows an earlier decision made at the Third Plenum of the 14th Party Central Committee, where the Central Committee approved the policy and authorized the Politburo to implement it under its authority.

The Central Commission for Publicity and Mass Mobilization was established in February 2025 through the merger of the former Central Commission for Publicity and the Central Commission for Mass Mobilization.

The commission serves as an advisory body to the Party Central Committee, and directly to the Politburo and the Secretariat, on Party building as well as political, ideological, ethical, publicity and mass mobilization work.
