The Quang Ninh 1 wind power project has a total investment of approximately VND7.3 trillion (around US$300 million) and a designed capacity of 200MW. It is the province’s first wind energy project, developed in alignment with Vietnam’s national power development plan for the 2021-2030 period, with a vision to 2050.

The project will feature 32 modern wind turbines and, once operational in 2028, is expected to generate nearly 600 million kWh of clean electricity annually.
Speaking at the groundbreaking ceremony, Le Van Anh, Vice Chairman of the Quang Ninh People’s Committee, emphasized that the project represents a critical step in the province’s shift from “brown” to “green” energy, contributing to sustainable development goals.
He called on the investor to mobilize resources effectively, apply advanced technologies and strictly comply with technical, environmental and labor safety regulations to ensure the project is delivered on schedule and meets quality standards.
Beyond supplying clean energy, the Quang Ninh 1 wind power plant is expected to create new development opportunities for the region. It is set to generate jobs, increase budget revenues, stimulate infrastructure and service growth, and support the restructuring of the local economy.
