"Red Rain" is experiencing revenue growth at an unprecedented rate.

Just two weeks after its release, Red Rain has overtaken The House of No.2 by Tran Thanh to become the third-highest-grossing film in the history of Vietnamese cinema, according to data from Box Office Vietnam.

As of 6:00 PM on September 4, Red Rain had crossed the 475 billion VND mark (approximately USD 19.7 million), placing it behind only Mai (USD 22.8 million) and Face Off 7 (USD 20 million) by Ly Hai. With its current explosive growth, Red Rain, directed by Dang Thai Huyen, is projected to surpass Face Off 7 by September 5 and potentially dethrone Mai by the end of the weekend to claim the title of the highest-grossing Vietnamese film of all time.

Red Rain has become a box office phenomenon in 2025, achieving the highest revenue just 10 days into its release. It is also the first film directed by a woman to enter the all-time top 3 box office rankings in Vietnam - a space historically dominated by male directors Tran Thanh and Ly Hai.

As the film continues to make waves, the People's Army Cinema - the production unit behind Red Rain - is hosting special screenings on September 4 and 5 to honor local government leaders, military units, and residents who supported the filming process in Quang Tri province. Screenings will be held at the Quang Tri Citadel Heritage site, Rio CINEMAS Vincom Plaza Dong Ha, and various community venues in Dong Hoi City.

These commemorative events serve to pay tribute to the heroic sacrifices of Vietnam’s fallen soldiers and express gratitude to the people and institutions that supported the production team. Through this initiative, the People's Army Cinema hopes to further spread powerful historical values and reaffirm the enduring spirit of patriotism, resilience, and bravery displayed during the historic battle of Quang Tri Citadel.

The film brings to life one of the most tragic yet glorious chapters of Vietnam’s history, where tens of thousands of soldiers and civilians sacrificed their lives for national unification. Through vivid imagery and emotional storytelling, Red Rain not only recounts history but also reignites the undying spirit of a generation that fought for peace, independence, and freedom - a legacy that future generations must remember and honor.
